Fall Idea’s Brewing [DIY Projects]

Of all the seasons, I think Fall is my favorite. You might assume it’s because Pumpkin Spice, but I beg to differ! I look forward to my church coming into the season of observing bigger feasting and fasts. I like the structure, and I love the results of digging deeper and coming closer to my creator.

And I also enjoy the decorating! Fall is fun, and full of so many different theme ideas. Combining Fall and Halloween decor, with some of my Catholic-culture undertones to draw it all together is a test in creativity. One day my dream is to have a whole beautiful Fall experience for guests at the farm with a small petting zoo and activities. But I have to start small, because small is achievable and we all know I plan way more than I can achieve reasonably.

Last month, I started with making some fun decorations because I knew that the month would be a busy one and I wouldn’t get to accomplishing everything that I want. It’s a start! I have hopes that over time it will develop into a fun spread across the front of the property for guests to enjoy. But I started with a front door wreath. We don’t get many guests , but it’s fun to have something that makes statement. (Even if it’s just for the Amazon delivery guys!) Which, I think, this wreath accomplished.

Next, I moved on to something that is fun and a little spooky, and also Fall-ish in nature. Apples! Apples are in season, and I thought that taking a little spookiness from Snow White’s Apple theme would be fun. So this apple arrangement is made from fake apples that I picked up second-hand. The poison apples were so fun to make. I got Air Dry Clay from the Dollar Tree and shaped it around the apples, and painted them once they had dried with an iridescent paint that was also from the Dollar Tree.

Moving along, I used even more items, (dried foliage), also from the Dollar Tree to make a pretty arrangement for my living room. I had also saved some flowers and grasses during the Spring and Summer months to use as well. And the basket, I found second-hand. I think that the most expensive part of this arrangement was the pumpkin.

Ultimately, I’d love to make more of similar items for outside decorating. It just takes time and effort. Maybe I should work on it more throughout the year so that I can have a nice set up once October comes around next year!
