Sacred Heart & Beautiful Things

Beautiful things should be available to everyone. Art, music, dance, and so on. For centuries these were the things that brought our senses to the heights and helped us through hard times. That something beautiful was still there amidst whatever hardships were happening…that people flocked to beauty to escape from War and famine…this says something about what it does for the human spirit. We crave beautiful things, even if we can’t put it into words. We want something that is going to speak to our heart.

My heart wanted to bring beautiful items to the world. So many things are so sleek and simple these days. And yet, we will fly across the world to see something that was made centuries ago for that reason alone– that it is beautiful. It’s a large endeavor perhaps, but I’ll do my part in my small capacity. I don’t have a lot of money at my disposal, however, God did gift me with some creativity for using and reusing things. When I am out on my thrifting adventures, I’ll keep an eye out for anything that I think I can repurpose. I also thought it would be lovely to incorporate some natural elements into my work when it is suitable.

Along with shrines, I’m working on some Sacrament gifts. Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation gifts are projects that are very much on my radar because they should be some of the most memorable events of a young persons life. Having beautiful and precious remembrance pieces should be a priority for helping to bring alive and sustain some fervor for them as time goes by. I’ve spent some time researching some items that were common in times past and I can’t wait to share more about those in the coming months and weeks.
