Hurry Up and Slow Down

Taking the time to slow down and appreciate life is something we all need to do from time to time. Life can be so busy and hectic, that it’s easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out. That’s why it’s important to take a step back and take the time to relax and enjoy the moment. Here are a few tips on how to take the time to slow down:
- Take a break: Taking a break from your daily routine is a great way to slow down and relax. Whether it’s a coffee break, a walk outside, or a few minutes of meditation, taking a break can help you refocus and reset.
- Take a deep breath: Taking a few deep breaths can help slow your heart rate and reduce stress. Try to make it a habit to take a few deep breaths throughout the day when you start to feel overwhelmed.
- Listen to music: Music can be a great way to relax and slow down. Make a playlist of your favorite relaxing tunes and put it on when you need to slow down and take a break.
- Enjoy nature: Taking a few minutes to get outside and enjoy nature can be a great way to slow down. Whether it’s a hike in the woods, a stroll through the park, or just sitting in your backyard, taking the time to enjoy the beauty of nature can be very calming.
- Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment. It’s about focusing on the present and being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgement. Taking a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness can be a great way to slow down and appreciate life.
There are a couple of wonderful therapists that practice Catholic Mindfulness, and have some programs that allow you to learn technique. They also share insight about the correlation between living a deeply present Catholic life and being present in the moment. (Head to Instagram and search for Catholic Mindfulness!)
Taking the time to slow down can help you relax, reduce stress, and appreciate life more. Try to make it a habit to slow down each day and enjoy the moment the way God intended.
